Hi, I am Makayla!

For as long as I can remember I have enjoyed traveling - from long road trips to my first flight - it has always been a thrill. As a kid (and let's be real, an adult too) I have dreamed of visiting far away places like Egypt and Italy, China and Mexico. While I have checked off a few of these places, there is still so much more to explore!

In 2018 I took a bucket list trip to New York City with a group of girlfriends. We hustled across crosswalks, wandered the streets of ChinaTown and Little Italy, spotted celebs on Broadway, strolled through Central Park, and took a million photos in Time Square. It was a rush like none other and one I wanted to feel again and again.

Flash forward to 2023. I had just finished a year of my first “big girl job” and received my first bonus check. After asking everyone I knew to book a trip with me I decided this was the year I was going to travel outside of the US. So, I booked a long weekend in Mexico with a travel company for the exact amount of my bonus check. It was the leap I needed to take. And worth every penny.

I spent 4 days in Cancun and the surrounding jungle meeting friends from around the world, exploring the beaches, learning the culture, and experiencing the nightlife. When I returned home I felt the ‘travel bug’ stronger than ever.

Today, I have been to five countries, one territory and 24 states! I have taken planes, trains, buses, trams, subways, ferries and cars and, most of the time, a combination of them to get where I need to go. As a new traveler I had a lot to learn - like the best way to get through customs quickly and what to pack for a long haul flight - but now I can share what I know with you.

On this blog you can follow along with the trips I take as well as learn how to plan your own. I am excited to share adventures with you as we explore more of the world together!
