Our second day began bright and early with an 8 a.m. flight from Nice to Barcelona aboard EasyJet. By 9 a.m., we touched down in sunny Spain, excited to dive into the vibrant energy of Barcelona. After a quick ride to our hostel nestled near La Rambla in the Gothic Quarter, we were ready to hit the streets.

A Self-Guided Tour

We kicked off our Barcelona experience with a self-guided walking tour to make the most of our brief visit. Our first stop was Ciutadella Park, a lush urban oasis with picturesque fountains and serene paths. From there, we wandered to the Arc de Triomf, a stunning architectural gem that serves as a gateway to the park.

The highlight of our tour was undoubtedly La Sagrada Familia, Antoni Gaudí’s iconic masterpiece. Its awe-inspiring design left us speechless as we admired its intricate details and towering spires. We wrapped up the morning with a visit to Mercat de la Boquería, a bustling market filled with vibrant colors, mouthwatering aromas, and a wide array of local delicacies.

After thousands of steps, a well-deserved siesta back at the hostel recharged us for the evening.

Sunset Views and Nightlife

With renewed energy, we made our way to Salt for drinks as the sun dipped below the horizon, painting the city in warm hues. The view was breathtaking—a perfect prelude to a delicious dinner of authentic paella at La Fonda.

The night didn’t end there. We joined a lively bar crawl hosted by our hostel, meeting fellow travelers and experiencing Barcelona’s buzzing nightlife. From cozy bars to vibrant clubs, it was an unforgettable evening of connection and celebration.

Gaudí Tour and Farewell

The next day began with a guided walking tour focused on Gaudí’s remarkable works. We marveled at Palau Güell, Casa Batlló, and Casa Milà, learning fascinating facts from our knowledgeable guide. (Fun fact: Darth Vader’s helmet was inspired by Casa Milà!)

We capped off the day with tapas at La Flautas and a hike to Park Güell, soaking in Gaudí’s whimsical designs one last time. By evening, it was time to bid farewell to Barcelona as we flew back to France.

Barcelona, you were magic! Until next time.
