Rome may be known for its history, art, and culture, but what if you only have one day to experience it all? Don’t worry — Rome is surprisingly walkable, and with a little planning, you can see the city’s most iconic sights in a single day.
Walking through Rome
We started our Roman adventure at the Spanish Steps. These elegant stairs lead up to the Trinità dei Monti church and offer a great photo op. After soaking in the beauty, we walked just a few minutes to the world-famous Trevi Fountain. Tossing a coin is a must if you want to ensure your return to this magical city — maybe next time with your love!
Next, we headed towards ancient Rome. The Roman Forum is an archaeological treasure trove of ruins and the heart of the old Roman Empire. From there, we walked over to the Coliseum, Rome’s most iconic landmark. This colossal amphitheater, once the site of gladiatorial combat, still stuns with its grandeur and history. Seeing it for myself truly took my breath away. I couldn't believe I was in front of such a wonder!
Touring the Vatican City
After a whirlwind morning, we made our way to the Vatican City — the world’s smallest country! The hallways and rooms were filled with art and artifacts from all over the world. We made our way to Sistine Chapel, where Michelangelo’s famous ceiling left us speechless — every inch of the chapel is a masterpiece. We followed this with a visit to St. Peter’s Basilica, a true testament to Renaissance architecture.
Reflection
By the end of the day, our feet were sore but our hearts were full. We capped off the day at the hostel across the street for drinks, dancing, and making new friends!
Rome is a wonderful city that blends history with modern vibrance, and even in just one day, it offers memories that will last a lifetime.
